Lillian and I left Syracuse about 9:00 o’clock with fair skies and the road was clear and dry. We arrived at Winchester, VA about 4:00 PM. We stayed at the Wyndam Historic Hotel where we had very nice accommodations. We ate at The Cork Street Tavern where the service and food was also good. Leaving Winchester about 9:00 AM we travelled with considerable rain and arrived at the Comfort Inn, Sweatwater, Tennesee. Accommodations were also good. We ate at the Gondelier Restaurant with a excellent reputation in the area. We had Antipasto and Pizza. The Antipasto was okay but the pizza was one of the best we ever had.

We left Sweatwater again about nine o’clock and got to the Georgia State line about 10:30 AM We called Lynn and agreed we would meet in Calhoun where Prime Outlets was located. Many clothing items were purchased for “the most precious one.” She is a real” doll” and she is also very inquisitive. What a delight to be with.

Thursday, Thanksgiving we played with Claire. Mark and Lynn painted some of the living room walls. Mom, Mark, and Lynn prepared dinner while I took care of the hard work by playing on the floor with Claire. After dinner we received a Skype call from uncle Larry and spoke for short while promising to call him back after Claire arose from her nap.

January 1, 2009

Arrived at condo about noon. Unpacked a few things and went to lunch. We ate at Mamma Leones and found it very good. We had our usual aarival lunch of antipasti and small pepperoni pizza. Excellent! Mike Gervaise called to ask if everything was satisfactory. Of course it is quite so.

Len went golfing ( his style) and then we picked up Gene to shop at Walmart. Went back to Gene’s for supper.
We met Nancy and Miro in our parking lot.

January 3, 2009 9:00 AM

I met Barbara and Phil who also live on the first floor of our condo building.
Len went golfing ( his style). Len went swimming at 3:00 PM and then we went to a Pool party at the club pool. We met Jean and Bob from Durham North Carolina. They live in a golf community thehre and are here for the month of January. They play golf practically every day.

We went to Gene’s house at 7:00 o’clock to play “Greed.” There we met a new couple Ruth Ann and Lance Len.

Did not sleep at all last night. I think the reason was that I drank two glasses of Mountain Dew. Len went golfing, then swimming had lunch and we went out shopping to Dollar Tree, Walgreens, Publix, and Home Depot. Len also went riding on Bike. Spent the Evening in condo.

Len up at 7:30 AM, went to golf , swam laps at club pool, shaved and showered and returned to condo. Lillian went to have her hair cut and colored while I went to the library. We ate a late lunch at about two o’clock.

Len up at 7:30 AM, went to golf , swam laps at club pool, shaved and showered and returned to condo. We had breakfast about 10:30, lunch at 12:15, then went to pick jup Gene. The south jetty was very beautiful today where we stopped for an ice cream. Brought Gene back home went to Walmart and returned to the condo.

Len up at 7:30 AM, went to golf , swam laps at club pool, shaved and showered and returned to condo. We had breakfast about 10:30. At noon we joined Gene, Ruth Ann, Lance, Peter, and Myrtle for lunch at the Elk’s club. Lillian went to the Senior Arcade while I shopped for pants at Bell’s. By noon time the temperature rose to about 75 degrees with a little brief shower.

Len up at 7:30 AM, went to golf , swam laps at club pool, shaved and showered and returned to condo. In the afternoon we went to Sarasota to have the laptop checked. Then we returned and spent an hour at the senior arcade. With Len’s help Lillian won twelve dollars. Today warmed up to about 70 degrees. Very bright and comfortable.

Len went over to the golf range which was closed for maintenance. Instead went to the pool to complete eight laps, sat in the hot spa, got cleaned up and returned to the condo. Lillian and I went shopping in the afternoon and set a memory thumb drive off to Larry. In the evening we went to the club for dinner where they featured a pianist. We enjoyed it very much. Temperature reached 75 degrees by mid day. Met two new neighbors today, Glen and the gervaise’s handyman.

Len over to Golf range and pool at 8:00 AM Met a gentleman in at the pool from Sweden. He and his wife own a condo here. His name is Gunta. Lillian and I ate lunch at Peaches over at Jacaranda and Center Rd., Shopped at Seetbay, and looked for fresh strawberries om Highway 41. They were too expensive so we went without. After seven o’clock we played “Greed” with Peter, Myrtle, Pricilla and Gene. Gene and Lillian won. We all had a present social conversation after the games. We skyped Larry and Charlene. Earlier in the evening Becky called and we talked for a few minutes. Temperture rose to 77 degrees by afternoon.

Len went golfing and swimming . Lillian and I went to Sarasota to Dillards. Gene came over to the condo to do some chess research on our computer. Since he had to get back home to cook supper Lilian and I got a pizza from Mamma Leones and brought it back to the condo. The air temperature rose to about 73 degrees today.

Len out golfing and swimming. Lillian and I went for Chinese Monday and then to the senior arcade. I won nine dollars. Temperature rose to 73 degrees. Talked to Bob Paladino on Skype for about an hour.

Len went golfing in thye morning and swam laps in the club house pool. Lillian and I ate breakfast and then she went to the grocery store for a few items. Kopple Realty agent called and I met him at 839 Wexford Blvd. I looked at a beautiful condo for sale there. Lillian came back one minute too late to see it as well. It is a property I would be interested in.During the afternoon we waited for a call from Barry and Naomi to meet for supper. After we got the call we agreed to meet at Buffalo Wild Wings. The wings were excellent and the restaurant offered “two for one special;” Temperature reached 75 degrees today.

No golf or swimming this morning,today too cold. At twelve o’clock we went to lunch at Chilli’s (appropriate for the day) and after lunch went to Pricilla’s house to play, Greed. We returned to the condo and at 6:00 PM we went to the association cocktail party and bingo. Guess who won $7.50? No me, Lillian. We met Margiorie and and David Ross from Indianapolis and several others. The temperature rose to 65 degrees today.

No golfing this morning however after taking Gene to the post office I went to the practice putting green for an hour. When I returned to the condo we had lunch and then headed off to the senior arcade. Lillian won a bit and I did not lose any of my own money. We goit matched play of ten dollars because we wore our hats. At 6:30 PM we went to the clubhouse where they had a seafood buffet. It was wonderful. We sat at a table with member hosts and two new member couples. Table mates were Bill and Julia, Hosts, Mary and Dennis and Beverly and Fran both couples were new home owners and club members. The weather warmed up to about 65 this afternoon but dropped again to 52 overnight.

No golf this morning for me, too cold. However Lillian and I had lunch and went for a ride. When we came back I went to the driving range and putting green for a forty five minute practice. Gene called to say we had mail over at his house. He was also having trouble sending money to England. We suggested since he had a Merrill Lynch account that he call them on Monday. Warmed to 66 degrees totay.

No golf this AM for Len. Too cold. Went to Sarasota to pick up Lynn, Mark, and Claire. Their plane was late so we went shopping at B.J’s. Got them at about 1:30 PM and returned to the condo. Amd I played with Claire the rest of the afternoon. At 4:30 we went to view a couple condos for sale. Ownership is very tempting, more so for me than Lilian. Talked to Larry later in the evening. The temperature rose to about 69 degrees today.

Claire woke up at 5:40 AM today so she could explore the condo. The rest of us (Lil and Len) slept for a couple more hours. No Golf or swimming today. (too cold) Mom and Lynn went grocery shopping while I baby sat and Mark snoozed. We ate lunch upon their return and Mark and I went golfing, Dad’s kind. On gthe way back we caught up with Lynn and the baby and looked at a villa for sale. Very nicely appointed but really too big. We returned to the condo where Barry and Naiomi arrived and w e had cake and icreame to celebrate a birthday. Claire and dad received each a gift from Barry and Naiomi.We watched football and played dice during the afternoon. After a lovely supper prepar4e3d by mom the Slosbergs had to say good by. But Lil and I will see them on Wednesday at the Broadway Palms. Temperature today rose to almost 70 degrees.

Len and Mark went golfing today Len went swimming and Mark went back to condo. We had lunch in the condo and then went over to Gene’s and Monsignor’s to visit. Claire was very well behaved and a credit to her parents. She adjusted to the new environment and then delighted all with her with her engaging personality. We went over to Venice Beach next to Sharkey’s Restaurant where Claire put her feet in the water. She was not too pleased with the experience but tolerated it. We took pictures and then returned to the condo. Len, Lillian, and Len went to Mamma Leones for dinner and celebrated my birthday again.

No golf today, too cold. We took Mark, Claire, and Lynn to the Sarasota airport for an 8:00 AM flight back to Atlanta. Went out to the launder mat We watched the inauguration of Barak Obama for most of the rest of the day. Talked to Becky and Mike Murphy about coming to Venice in March. We are excited about their coming. The temperature high today reached 67 degrees.

No golf today, too cold. After breakfast we went to Beals to shop. They had a senior’s day sale with an extra 15% off. We made some purchases and then went over to the Senior Arcade until it was time to go to lunch at Bob Evan’s with Gene, Pricilla, and Monsignor, Returning to the condo we rested until 3:30 PM when we left to meet Barry and Naiomi in Punta Gorda. We went together to Ft. Myers to see a show, “Singin in the Rain” at the Broadway Palms Theater. I had a difficult sitting through the show because my back was really uncomfortable. Since it was a dinner shoh we enjoyed the meal part very much. The show itself was also performed well.

No golf this morning, too cold. Went to Walgreens this morning. Then we went to the Senior Arcade until noon. I had to drag Lillian away.Marcia and Kurt came over this afternoon and we went to the club for a Grand Pasta Buffet. The temperature warmed to 58 degrees this afternoon.

Today Lillian and I went to Walgreens to pick up a prescription, bought a Power Ball ticket, and purchased show tickets to “Red, Hot, and Blue” at the Venice Little Theater. We will attend when Joe and Kathy get here. I did practice golf and swam. I felt good afterward but tired.Temp warmed up to 68 Degrees today.

Len went to play at the golf practice range and swiam laps this morning while Lilian went to the Senior Arcade.. She picked me up at the club and we returned to th3e4 condo together. Lee and Marion Slosberg came to visit Barry and Naomi so went to dinner at Olive Garden . Was nice to see them this season and we enjoyed our selves. Temperature rose to degrees today.

Heard from kurt today. They enjoyed their Cabbage Key Boat tour. Len golfed until noon and then returned for lunch. Len went to look at a couple condos while Lillian shopped atBealls for some new outfits. When she returned she had some nice ones and savedquite a bit of money. Temperature rose to 76 degrees today.

No golf today because we slept late and had to be at Sarasota airport by noon. Did some BJ’s shopping and then went to pick up Cathy Hawkes. We all had lunch at Steak and Shake. Then went to Venice where we visited with Gene and Monsignor for a while. We spent and hour and a half at the senior arcade, won a bit and returned to condo. Covered all the furniture in anticipation of the plumbers coming tomorrow. Temperature rose to 74 degrees today.

Plumber arrived at eight o’clock. Lilian went shopping and tio the arcade. I went golfing and Swimming. Lillian picked me up at 11:00 AM and we went to Port Charlotte intending to see a movie. We were early so we went to lunch and since I was tired we decided to return to Venice Library. At 3:00 PM we returned to the condo where the plumbers had finished. At ^:30 PM we went to the club house for as lobster dinner. It was okay but lacked the ambience of a Maine lobster feed. The temperature rose to about 79 degrees today.

Len went to swim laps in the small pool today but no golf. We went to lunch with Gene and Monsignor and came right back to the condo.I took a nap and Lillian did her jigsaw puzzles. The temperature rose to about 78 degrees and windy.

Len went golfing but no laps in the club pool today. Returned to, codo for breakfast and lunch later at 12:00 PM. We called Gene to plan a trip to the North Jetty this afternoon. We expected the condo cleaner at 1:00 PM whom we left to complete her work. When we arrived at the jetty we had coffee at the North Jetty Fish Camp and sat in the sun for a couple hours. The sunshine was beautiful but the camp was dumpy. When we left there we decided to take a ride through Nokomis and found ourselvers on Casey Key. What an eye opener. There must have been a couple hundred big homes there worth over several million dollars. We did not count but there must have been over fifty for sale. Some were very beautiful and others quite gaudy. Who has all that money to live there? The temperature rose to about 75 degrees today.

We had plans to go shopping this morning since it was a bit to chilly to golf or swim. We went to Bell’s, where Lilian bought some nice outfits then of course we went to lunch (what else). Made purchases at Publix, Richard’s health food store, and Walgreens.

Today we went to look at a couple condos for sale. Len went golfing and Lillian to the arcade. We returned to the condo for supper (steak and potatoes) and then to Kathy Hawkes for “Greed.”Peter and Myrtle Gene and Pricilla played with us.

Today was too cold to go swimming in the AM. We planned to go to the arcade before noon and did. I lost but Lilian won a few dollars. Len went golfing afgter lunch and looked a a couple properties for sale in our Plantation Neighborhood. Found one at building eight which has some potential for either purchase or rental. Went to Gene’s for supper with Kathy Hawkes. Watched a little Super Boel and then returned to our condo. Temperature warmed to about 67 degrees today.

No Golf or swimming today. Too cold. Went to new arcade in North Port and had fun playing for over two hours. Had lunch at the arcade and then went to see a movie, “New in Town.” It was quite hilarious. Yhen we went to Naomi’s and Barry’s to celebrate their son Lewis’s birthday. We had Naomi’s famous meatball with her secret recipe ingredients. Returned to our condo by 10:30 PM. Temperature rose to about69 degrees today

Lillian flew from Sarasota to Georgia. Len went golfing. I prepared my own lunch and dinner today. I arranged condo for Greed game tonight. Myrtle, Peter, Gene, Pricilla, Bob, and Jean played. Temperature rose to 71 degrees today.

Len slept until around eight o’clock then woke up and received a skype call from Claire Elizabeth. Went to play golf and then returned to condo Lillan is enjoying her stay with Lynn and Claire while Mark is in South America. Len ate a little lunch and took a short nap. Went out on my bicyle to look at some properties and found a very nice villa at Augusta Villas in the Plantation. Barry and Naomi arrived about four o’clock and we went to dinner at Althea’s on Venice Island. .
Food was good and service was excellent. We rode to the South Jetty then back by airport and to the condo. We skyped Lynn and Lilian then played a few games of Greed. After they left I worked on my Greed scoring system on the computer.

Len golfed this morning around 10:00 AM. Called Lillian earlier in the day. Cooked the rest of the steak for lunch. Skyped Claire Elizabeth. Made a Skype call to an acquaintance of Gene’s in England. Rode bicycle to Gene’s house. Met Jim Haufnagle, Kathy’s brother. Returned to condo and downloaded a movie, “Burn after Reading.” Temperature rose to 75 degrees. very pleasant day

Today Len went golfing and over to the club to check on membership. Returned to the condo to prepare to go to lunch. Pricilla picked me up along with Peter and Myrtle. It was an interesting adventure to say the least. We ate at IHOP . I returned to the condo. Later on Gene came over for a while until we left for his house for supper. The elevator at our condo is out of order until next Tuesday. Temperature rose to79 degrees today. Beautiful day.

No golfing today. Plantation sponsored a Celebrity Classic tournament. I went over to watch the putting contest. The master of ceramonies introduced all the celebrities. Very interesting. Sixty guests mostly Baseball and football players and coaches. Watched a few putting the 10 th green outside our condo in the afternoon. Lillian returned from Georgia and we went to the Family Table for dinner,, Not too good tonight. Temperature rose to 73 dsegrees and mostly overcast except for a couple afternoon hour.

Len went golfing todeay and swam laps. Since the range was closed until 11:00 AM I swam first. Returned to the condo and had lunch. I went for a ride on my bicycle and returned to take a nap. Temperature rose to 77 degress today.

Len went golfing and swimming today. WE went out shopping to Sweetbay and then to supper at Perkins Restaurant. After that we went to Peter and Myrtle’s where we met our other friends and played, “Greedy.” It was interesting trying to plan the next week’s game and lunch. We settled for Gene having the game at his house, albeit Lillian and I can not attend. Lunch will actually be Thursday at Rosebud’s to celebrate monsignor’s birthday. Temperature rose to about mid seventies today.

Today the temperature4 reached 72 degrees. Len went to swim in the association pool in the afternoon after we went to look for a couple properties. Picked aup a prescription at Walgreens and then came back to have grilled steak for supper. It was difficult to climb up the stairs but we made it. Talked to Larry, Charlene, Mark, Claire and Lynn today.

Actually the Sun is shining instead of the indicated cloads. Beautiful day today. Len went golfing and tom clean up at the spa. Returned for lunch and we went to China 1. Following lunch we went to the senior arcade for an hour or so. When we returned to the condo the elevator was fixed. Talked to brother Bob tonight but could not get his web cam to work. In the process something happened to my network connection.

Len went golfing while Lillian went to get her hair cut and colored. When she returned to the condo the elevator was about to get a routine maintenance and she got the last ride up for the next two hours. We had to walk back down in order to travel to Sarasota nd BJ’s. In the evening we met Barry and Naomi for chicken wings at Buffalo Wings restaurant; two for one night. The temperature rose to 75 degrees today.

Today I played at the golf range and cleaned up at the pool. No swimming because it was too windy. We had lunch and Len took a nap. At thee o’clock we went to tervis tumblers, Beal’s marked down, store, Walgreens, and then to dinner at Stephano’s Restaurant in Englwood. The food was good at the restaurant. The temperature rose to 73 degrees today.

Len went golfing and to the club pool. Had lunch at 12:30 PM and picked Gene up to go to fruit and vegetable stand on the island. Dropped him off at home and went to Publix’s. In the evening gene, Kathy and I with Momn driving we went to Snook Haven. Larry sent me a movie, “The Last Emperor” which I started watch. The temperature rose to 73 degrees today.

No golf today because the morning temperature was only 53. We had breakfast and left to pick up Joe and Kathy at the airport in Fort Meyers. My airport sign said, “Welcome Regional Governor and Mrs.” They both got a kick out of it. We ate lunch at Daniels Grille in Ft. Meyers and had a very good lunch. We returned to Venice and the condo. Temperature in Venice rose to 72 degrees.

Len went golf practicing at 8:00 AM Returned for breakfast We all went to Ingrid’ and Tony’s to visit. Tanner was ther visiting her grandmother. When we returned to Venice we went to the Fruits and vegetable farm off outer East Venice Avenue near Snook Haven. We had a lovely brisket dinner at 7:00 PM.

Joe and I went to the practice range to golf. When we got there several golf club reps were demonstrating their products. Len tried a few. Very impressive but did not purchase anything. We hits some balls and putted, then returned to the condo. We went to a matinee at Venice Little theatre, “Red, Hot & Blue. It was an excellent performance. Following the performance we ate at Lunna Italian Restorante just across the street. It was very good and we took half our orders home. The temperature rose to 71 degrees today.

No golf this morning the temperature was too cold. We all went to lunch at Ihop. Gene, Myrtle, Peter, Monsignor, Pricilla, Lillian, Kathy , Joe, and Len. We had a good time and had our free pancakes for participating in contributing to the Children’s Miracle network. After lunch Kathy Joe and I went swimming at the club pool.Played greed at night. The temperature rose to 73 degrees today.

Len and Joe went Golfing this morning and swimming in the afternoon. Lillian and Kathy went for groceries at Publix.. At six o’clock we all went to the Plantation clubhouse for h’ordurves and cocktails. We met another couple and had a very nice time. Temperature rose to74 degrees today.

Len played golf today then returned to the condo to get ready to pick up Kathy Hawkes and take her to the airport in Sarasota. For lunch Joe, Kathy, Lillian and Len went to Troyer’s Hearatige Restorante for lunch. This was a return to restaurant from last year.

Today we went to Punta Gorda to take a harbor cruise to Cabbage Key. It was a very disappointing excursion. We got back to Venice, had pizza at Mamma Leones and then picked Gene up to play Greed at Bob and Jeans. They are renting Peter Pellegi’s house at Southwood. We al had a great time.

We had a busy day today. Len went early golfing. Kathy and Joe went to church. At 12:00 PM we all met Barry and Naomi at the clubhouse for brunch. It was everything we expected and more. We returned to the condo to play dice and talked. Lilian and Kathy went out for Subway sandwiches at about 6:30 PM and we talked until about nine o”clock when Barry and Naomi had to leave for home. We plan to have lunch at their house next Saturday. The weather cooled to 68 degrees to day.

We ate breakfast at nine o’clock because the temperature was cool to play golf. At 9:30 AM it warmed enough to go out. Len went golfing. Joe stayed at the condo while Lil and Kathy went shopping. Joe and Kathy went with Len to look at 1049 Wexford Blvd (Jack and Maxine). When we came back Lillian said she would buy trhe place for? Temperature rose to 58 degrees.

Len played golf this morning early. Gene, Monsignor, Peter, Myrtle, Joe, Kathy, Lillian, and Len went to Peaches for lunch. Joe Kathy and len went to pool. The HOA condo Assoc. had a cocktail party to which Kathy, Joe, Lilian and I attended.

We all ate breakfast early today. Len went to golf with Joe at 10:00AM In the evening we went to the Plantation Club for a Seafood buffet. It was grand.

Len golfeds early this morning and returned to ther condo for breakfast with Lillian, Joe and Kathy. WE headed down to Punta Gorda for lunch with Barry and Naomi and then on to Fort Myers to drop Joe and Kathy at their friends there. They will stay with them and fly home on Tuesday. Lillian and I returned to Venice and played dice with Bob, Jean, P{eter, Myrtle, Pricilla ( at her house) and Gene. Iyt was a joyous but somewhat sad evening because Pricilla sold her house that she had been in for many years. We don’t know where she will be next season. The temperature rose to about 80 degrees today.

Len went swimming twice today. Monsignor and Gene for brisket dinner. Lil and Len went to arcade afterward. Temperature reached 77 degrees, very pleasant

Len went swimming this morning. Had breakfast at 9:30 AM Went to Vasani’s Comedy Zone for dinner with Punta Gorda Slosbergs. The Al Holland show was very good. Temperature rose to 77 degrees today.

Len went swimmiung in AM. Returned to condo and go ready to go to lunch with Monsignor and Gene. We went to Red Lobster in Port Chasrlotte. Gene grumbling and dissatisfied over lemonade.Went grocery shopping after lunch and returned to condo to wait for the Murphy’s to arrive . Around five o’clock we took them for a ride to the South Jetty and Sharky’s. We Taught them how to play greed. Temp rose to 82 today. Some rain in the evening.

Len, Becky, and Mike went swimming in the Fairways pool. Air was ncool but the water was warm.

Mike, Becky, and Len went swimming at the Plantation Club. We all went down to Venice Island and then to the Venice Audobon Rockery. We all returned to the condo and got dressed for dinner at the Bermuda Grill at the Plantation Club. We had a great time and Len joined the singing with his percussion soup spoons.

Becky, Len, and Mike went swimming. It was sixty degrees, air temperature at 7:45 AM. We survived and returned to the Condo for breakfast We needed to leave by Nine o’clock to get tom the Lipizzaner Stallion show. We staid for the first half of the show but left for lunch and a baseball spring training game in Sarasota with the Cincinnati Reds Vs Pittsburgh Pirates. After the game we returned to the condo, ate supper and prepared for, “Greed” players. Te4mperature rose to over 80 degrees today.

No swimming today, Bright and Sunny day. Mike and Becky went out to church. They came back for breakfast and left for St. Augustine. Gene came over in the afternoon to work on an e_mail to a friend of his. Len went swimming in the afternoon. Temperature rose to over 79 degrees today

Lillian sent my golf clubs home with the Murphys. Too cool to go swimming this morning. Lillian and I went to lunch today for Chinese Monday. Went shopping at Ross and bought a couple items. Had ice cream at Scoops on the way back. After swupper we went to the senior arcade.

Got up early today but no swimming in morning. As temperature warmed to 65 degrees Len went swimming before lunch. We had lunch and Gene came over for a while. At about 3:00 PM Lillian and I went to Spin Depot . At 5{15 PM we picked up chicken wings at “Hot Wings Restaurant” and went to Barry and Maomi’s for dinner and Greed. The temperature rose to82 degrees today.

Len went swimming this AM. Went to Barry and Naiomi’s today. Had lunch with David Levitsky, Lewis, Lynn, and Leah. A wonderful afternoon. In the evening we had supper witrh Barry and naiomi and played Greed. We really appreciated spending one of our last days here with all of those mentioned here.

Len went swimming in HOA pool. Called England for Gene to convey message. Lillian and I went to Crow’s Nest for Lunch. Was a good lunch. Lillian enjoyed her crème Broulee. I had Icream at a shope downtown Venice. While the icream was good the price was outrageous. Played Greed at Bob and Jeane’s house. Lillian threw a perfect points of SIX one’;s. Temperature rose to 83 degrees today and humid. A little uncomfortable.
